Mushroom

kinoko.jpgI found Mushrooms besaide a road when I walked in an evening.
It looks like a yellow-shimeji which I and my family used to take out to eat from forest.
However I am not sure it is edible mushrooms or not.
It is so difficult to distingish between edible and not edible.
Sometimes, people take a mistake and eat non-edible it and suffer from food poisning.
So this time, I just took a photo, that this time. That was all in order to keep away from a bad happning.
Any way, it is a good example, English weather is likely to be wet.
This is reason why there are mushrooms on the usual road.
I like it, of course.

Osechi-ryōri

osechi.jpg

My friends visited to my flat from north east of England by coach.
They brought us 'Osechi-ryōri' which they made themselves.

Osechi-ryōri are traditional Japanese New Year foods and almost Japanese difinitly eat them on 1st of Jenuary.

Kinpira-gobo is a name of one japanese food which contained carrot and lotus root.
Unfortunately they could not find out lotus root so they made Kinpira-gobo by using celery insted of it. However tast was really good and interesting.

Anyway,
I am very lucky because I had Osechi in the UK, too.

EPSN0013.jpgIn this morning, my husband went to the Criss street chapel to attend christmas mass.
When he was on the way there, he wated Bus for long time.
After several minutue, he rearized there were no bus today.
We now understand everything, in the UK, almost all shops are close and there are no public transports on the Christmas.

According to him, there were five people in the to him, there were five people in the chapel. I think perhpus most people went to their home town and there are a went to their home town and there are a dew people in central manchester.

In the evening, we went to our landlord's house to enjoy having a good christmas day.
We ate vetnam food, Arabic food and British food.
Every thing was fantastic.
Especially, I like traditional British Christmas Pudding with Cream.
It was the first time for me to eat it.
Do you like Christmas Pudding with Cream?

Holly Mince Pie

EPSN0008.jpgI had a Mince Pie in criss street chapel. It was a first time fo me to eat it. I felt strange something, but it was not bad.
What is the MInce Pie?
There is no meat, inspite of called mince pie.

I found that recipe in M.E.N of 14th, Dec, 2007.
According to the article(for 6lb mincemeat),

350g seedless raisins
225g sultanas
225g currants
110g cut mixed peel
350g chopped dried prunes
350g soft brown sugger
450g cooking apples peeled, cored and grated
225g shredded suet
Grated rind and juice of 2 orenges and 2 lemons
50g each chopped almonds and pecan nuts
15g mixed psice
5g freshly grated nutmeg
150ml brandy or rum

There are so many provisions.
I am completely astonishment.
However, I like a mince pie because there is something exotic and ancient taste.
Also, I like custom regerding to Christmas.
Useally, people eat a mince pie during Christmas Holliday.
This is the reason why Chapel gave me a good mince pie at cross street chapel.
I enjoed having it with milk tea.

Next time, I will make them a lot, and I will give my freiends.

Unitarian

EPSN0001.jpg

I think Unitarian in Manchester is important in British histry, because almost important people joined in this community. For example, Charles Dikens, Florence Nightingale, Charles Darwin and Mr and Mrs Gaskell.
In addition, Rupert William Potter who is Beatrix Potter's father, also conected with Unitarianism. Therefor his sttitude towerse her drawing and writing about Peter Rabbit etc, was positive.

In city centre of Mancheste, there is the Cross Street Chapel whrer Mr Gaskell worked as a Minster.  This is the church which I like.
