Takuan

Takuan.jpgI got a lot of Japanese taste because my parents sent them to me. What I am pleased is Takuan which is kind of pickled radish.
The taste remains me Japan.

It has been passed more than 1 year since I came to the UK and I miss Japan a little.
So Takuan will be medicine for me to cure my depressed mind.
I call it the intensive therapy by Japanese diet.
I think it sounds very good.

All I want now is two things; Takuan and rice.

Ringo Shiina

If I must introduce some Japanese singer to Mancunian or British, I will select Shiina Ringo.
She charged of the music director in the film of "Sakuran." which wall paper is exactly my blog's as you can see.

It is difficult for me to describe her but I can say that her music, words and appearance are utterly unusual while very Japanese taste even retrospective.

I think that she is completely different from other usual J-pop singers.

Sumo

Today, I would like to write about Japanese Sumo instead of Foot ball mach which might be more interesting to many British people.
However, I am dear going to report Sumo.

According to news of 24th May 2008,
Kotoōshū has won an Emperor's Cup of Sumo which is Japanese traditional sport.
This real means that he has become a Grand Champion.

He is not Japanese, and come from Bulgaria.
Often people call him "David Beckham in Sumo world".
Do you know why?
Because he is absolutely handsome and sweet voice.
I think that the number of younger age group who are interested in Sumo have been increased since Kotoōshū stands on 'dohyō' which is the place where sumo wrestlers fight each other.

I am pleased with his win but what a shame, Japanese sumo wrestlers hardly win a tournament in resent years.
Until last year, Mongolian wrestlers often won a title.

Any way, Sumo is grate fun.
I am looking forward to watching at next tournament.

Beautiful Wisteria

I have just got a wonderful news that Wisteria in Kameido Tenjin shrine is fully blossomed with triumph.

The shrine in Japan is famous as having more than 100 of the most beautiful Wisteria. Also vines of the wisteria are very long so that we can see soft purple flowers around us and even everywhere.

In Manchester, there are also wisteria trees.
I know, in the Whitworth Park, there is one wisteria tree.
So I am looking for blossomed wisteria there.

Yabusame

Today, I would like to write about "Yabusame" which is Japanese archery with riding a horse.
According to Japanese news, "Yabusame" was taken place at a Shrine in Tokyo, Today!!!

In nowadays, this is one of performances which reminding us traditional arts.
However this was one of effective strategies to fight enemies in buttles in the late of 1000s.
Perhaps, you find 'Yabusame' difficult if you imagine doing archery with riding a fast running house, holding other arrows and bow, and you must hit three objects.

Cherry Blossoms (Sakura)

In this season, there should be many beautiful Cherry Blossoms in Japan.
Unfortunately, I am not in Japan so I really miss cherry blossom (sakura).
I used to go to cherry blossom viewing (hanami) and sit down under the blooming trees to spend excellent time for example, talking friends with snaks, sleeping and just viewing them.

Cherry blossom viewing make Japanese people happy anytime not only daytime but also night.
Cherry blossoms (sakura) Under the moon light is also beautiful, some people take many picture of them during night.

Sōmen

Soumen.jpgWhen I am hungry during night, I often eat Sōmen.
Sōmen is quite simple nodles.
It is well known very thin nodle which served cold in summar.
However, it is also very nice to be served hot in winter or cold day.
In the UK, it is spring but wether is terrible as you know.
Even if Spring here, I cook Sōmen with hot.
I like Sōmen and seaweeds because tasty liquid come from dried seaweeds to soup.

Norimaki

I went to Landlord's house again in order to cerevlate new year each other.
I had an idea that was to make Norimaki.
Norimaki is a Japanese food and a kind of Sushi.
Sometimes people call it Maki-zushi and sushi rolls.
Anyway I made them and brought there.
My landload and landlady were so excited as they saw it.
We ate them and also drank Champagne.

Osechi-ryōri

osechi.jpg

My friends visited to my flat from north east of England by coach.
They brought us 'Osechi-ryōri' which they made themselves.

Osechi-ryōri are traditional Japanese New Year foods and almost Japanese difinitly eat them on 1st of Jenuary.

Kinpira-gobo is a name of one japanese food which contained carrot and lotus root.
Unfortunately they could not find out lotus root so they made Kinpira-gobo by using celery insted of it. However tast was really good and interesting.

Anyway,
I am very lucky because I had Osechi in the UK, too.
